The Grateful Entrepreneur: Why Freedom Fuels My Fire

November 29, 20245 min read

For me, Thanksgiving is a time for gathering with extended family, sharing good food, and taking a well-earned day off. It’s also a time for reflection - to pause, look at my life, and consider what I am truly grateful for.

This year, one thing stands out above all else: freedom.

Freedom to build a business that aligns with my values.
Freedom to serve clients who inspire me.
Freedom to spend my time on what matters most - whether that’s growing my business, being with family, or exploring new adventures.

Entrepreneurship hasn’t always been easy, and there are still goals I’m working toward, but the freedom I’ve built is something I wouldn’t trade for anything. And here’s the truth: if your entrepreneurial life doesn’t feel like freedom, it might be time to ask why.

What Freedom Really Looks Like

Freedom is the heartbeat of entrepreneurship. It’s often why we take the leap into business ownership, but it’s not always the reality we experience. True freedom isn’t just about being your own boss - it’s about building a business that supports your vision for life.

For me, freedom means:

  • Time Freedom: The ability to control how I spend my time. Some days, that means focused, productive work. Other days, it means stepping away to recharge or be fully present with my family.

  • Financial Freedom (still in progress!): Knowing my income grows with the value I create - not the hours I clock.

  • Creative Freedom: Having the space to innovate, experiment, and align my business with my strengths and passions.

  • Freedom to Choose Clients: Working with people who respect my expertise and make every project feel purposeful.

  • Location Freedom: One of the most exciting motivators for me has been the ability to work from anywhere. Whether it’s my home office, a favorite café, or the open road as I explore the van life dream, my business goes where I go.

This vision of freedom fuels me, but it’s not just about the logistical aspects of time and location. It’s also about the people I work with - and that’s where the magic happens.

Why Ideal Clients Are Key to Freedom

Freedom isn’t just about how you spend your time; it’s about who you spend it with. The people you work with have a huge impact on your energy, enthusiasm, and ability to grow your business sustainably.

Over time, I’ve learned that working with ideal clients isn’t just nice - it’s essential. My ideal clients are the ones who energize me, value what I bring to the table, and inspire me with their own passion and vision.

These are clients who:

  • Understand the value of investing in expertise.

  • Respect my time and trust me to deliver results.

  • Inspire me with their goals and ideas.

  • Refer me to like-minded prospects, creating a network of dream clients.

When I work with clients like this, the work feels aligned, productive, and even joyful. It’s not just business - it’s partnership.

What about you? Are your clients helping you build the freedom-filled business you dreamed of - or are they holding you back?

Gratitude: The Foundation of Freedom

When I reflect on my journey, freedom and gratitude are deeply intertwined. Without gratitude, it would be easy to overlook how far I’ve come or to take the opportunities I’ve created for granted. Gratitude keeps me grounded and focused on what truly matters.

I’m grateful for:

  • The clients who trust me to guide them toward success.

  • The flexibility to design a business that allows me to prioritize my family and passions.

  • The opportunity to do work that inspires me while making a meaningful impact.

This gratitude doesn’t just keep me grounded - it fuels me. It reminds me why I started this journey and helps me move forward with purpose, even on the hard days.

Is This Your Entrepreneurial Life?

Your entrepreneurial life should give you the freedom to build a business and live a life that feels aligned with your goals and values. If it doesn’t, it’s time to ask some important questions:

  • Are you saying “yes” to opportunities that don’t serve your vision?

  • Are your clients lifting you up - or dragging you down?

  • Does your business support the life you want, or has it started running you instead?

These questions can be uncomfortable, but they’re necessary to move closer to the life and business you’ve always wanted.

How to Build a Freedom-Filled Business

If your business isn’t giving you the freedom you deserve, now is the time to make a change. With the new year on the horizon, this is your opportunity to reflect, realign, and design a business that works for you, not against you.

Join me for my End of Year Reflection workshop. I don’t believe in rigid yearly planning - business, like life, changes too fast for that. Instead, this workshop is about Momentum Mapping, Vision Casting, and Setting Intentions - a guided, in-depth process to help you reflect on the past year and define a clear path forward.

Together, we’ll map out a vision that aligns with your values, set meaningful intentions, and create a flexible framework that allows you to adjust as needed. Whether your goal is more time, better clients, or the freedom to work from anywhere, this workshop will help you step into 2024 with clarity and confidence.

The One Thing ⬇️

Freedom is the cornerstone of entrepreneurship - freedom of time, finances, creativity, location, and the ability to work with people who inspire you. If your business doesn’t give you those things, it’s time to make a change.

What does freedom look like for you - and what’s stopping you from creating it?
